A thoughtful and interesting article! I learned a lot and was gratified to find that the author's opinions and conclusions matched mine. I've followed this topic since the late 1950's. My husband and I were German students at U of Mich and we paid for our dental work by translating the dentist's family records from German to English. Then we found a job translating German "radio dramas" into English. Roger did the literal translation, I massaged it into the vernacular of the day. It was fun and left me permanently interested in the topic.
